| A highly ornamental bamboo, this plant has a beautiful shape with dark green culms and hairy, red nodes--very decorative! Each node maintains a mass of branches, with occasional vertical white strips on the foliage. These variegated leaves change with the seasons. In winter, the colors are pronounced, rich white with green stripes. In summer, the foliage is light white contrasted by dark green culms that get 1.75" in diameter. A great accent plant or hedge. |

| Similar to Drepanostachyum sengteeanum except the culms are dark green and leaves are a smoky green. This bamboo flowered in 2006 after D. sengteeanum. The plant was brought into the country by our dear friend Gerald Bol, who cultivated it from seed. It has grown to about 7' tall here in the North Bay. It likes morning sun or dappled light. Definitely needs afternoon shade where it gets over 80 degrees F. |
